In an era where digital platforms continue to redefine success, Nigerian influencer and skit maker Nons Miraj is one of many proving that reinvention is not only possible it’s powerful.

In a candid interview on The Rolls Roye Experience, Nons shared how she made her first million without relying on any external financial help, especially not from men, contrary to what many might assume about influencers today.

She started out in Nollywood, chasing her passion for acting, only to be confronted with poor working conditions and what she described as deeply unrewarding pay. After months of filming, she earned no more than what someone might make from a modest office job.

Frustrated, but far from defeated, she stepped away from set life and took a chance on business. From Balogun Market, she began buying perfumes and jewelry in small quantities and reselling them at a profit. With every sale, she split the earnings half into her savings, half back into her hustle. Her method was simple, disciplined, and consistent.

She recalled being in a relationship at the time, but made it clear that no man was footing her bills. For her, the men in her life didn’t represent escape routes or sponsors they weren’t offering any kind of value that could shift her financial reality. So she built her own.

Still, her biggest pivot came when she fully embraced content creation. Skits, social media, and digital presence became her ticket to larger opportunities better acting roles, higher-paying jobs, and brand collaborations. Suddenly, acting gigs that once brought in N90,000 after months of work were paying over N300,000, thanks to the platform she had built.

“I was saving with my mum, I had my own savings, my salon was there, and acting started paying better after social media came into the picture,” she said, reflecting on the journey. “There’s nothing I couldn’t give myself.”

Nons Miraj’s story is a reminder that sometimes the path to success doesn’t begin with applause or approval it begins when you walk away from what doesn’t serve you, and choose to bet on yourself instead.
