Nigerian socialite Cubana Chief Priest has stirred controversy after taking a jab at Burna Boy following his loss at the 67th Grammy Awards. Burna Boy, who was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category alongside Wizkid, Tems, Asake, and Yemi Alade, failed to clinch the award as Tems emerged victorious with her hit song Love Me Jeje.
Following Tems’ win, Cubana Chief Priest took to his Instagram story to mock Burna Boy, insinuating that his previous Grammy win in 2021 for Twice as Tall was largely due to the influence of American music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, who served as the executive producer on the album. He wrote, “If to say Diddy dey outside, dem for use Johnson baby oil rub away her Grammy,” implying that without Diddy’s involvement—especially now that he is facing legal troubles—Burna Boy had no backing to secure another win.

His remarks ignited mixed reactions online. While some netizens found his statement amusing, others called it unnecessary and disrespectful to Burna Boy’s hard work. Many fans defended Burna Boy, arguing that his talent and global success speak for themselves. Some pointed out that regardless of the Grammy loss, Burna remains a dominant force in the African music industry. Others, however, saw Cubana Chief Priest’s comment as a reflection of the ongoing rivalry between Burna Boy and Davido’s camp, further fueling tensions between their fanbases.

Some users also clapped back at Cubana Chief Priest, accusing him of hypocrisy, given the controversy surrounding Davido’s own Grammy losses. One comment read, “Okay, but why you hide Davido Grammy inside your belle?” while another stated, “It’s always the nuisance around David that selfishly set him up for more drags.”

Despite the backlash, Cubana Chief Priest has not responded to the criticisms, keeping the online debate alive as fans continue to weigh in on the drama.
